Jeff called me yesterday. He is a longtime friend and donor (his wife is one of our online coaches) who loves young people. He told me that he recently was sharing his story with some young people and he shared about his substance abuse issues, relational immorality, and materialistic pursuits. After painting a visual picture of his life, he asked them for their opinions on why at 21 he had never considered Jesus claims as valid for his life. A couple of answers were tossed around (the drugs had you confused, you were convinced that God wasn’t real, or you thought you would have to give up too much to serve Jesus) but none were true. Finally, he looked them in the eyes and said, “I never considered the claims of Jesus because no one ever told me about Him.”

Last week as he was rehearsing that moment in his mind, he said, “Sean would have told me. He would have told me that Jesus loved me and had a plan for my life.”

Jeff called me just to encourage me and spur me on to keep sharing Christ with everyone possible. As we ended our conversation, he took it one step further. He said, “that is why I support Groundwire. Because I know that you are out there sharing Jesus with people who do not yet know. I want to be a part of that.”

Thanks Jeff for the being the man that you are and for offering that encouragement. It means a lot.

May the rest of us, especially those of us that grew up in homes where Christ was common conversation, realize that there are others that haven’t responded to the love of Christ simply because no one has shared with them. May God use us to be His voice to those that He loves.
